Fringe Festival Begins With ‘Artist in a Moment’; Then ‘My Witch’ Which Highlights Margaret Hamilton

Centenary Stage Company’s Fringe Festival returns for the 2022-2023 season with the Parallel Exit production of “The Artist will be With You in a Moment.” The production runs from Thursday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 16 in the Kutz Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center on the Centenary University campus at 715 Grand Ave. Hackettstown.

“The Artist will be With You in a Moment” tells the story of a comic everyman is on a never-ending quest to be understood. His audience awaits. Fill in the blanks in this multimedia event that asks us to investigate where the artist’s journey ends and the audience’s begins. An immersive audience experience in a solo comic performance as an artist, performer, and clown. A creative force who “can get laughs simply by breathing” (The New York Times).

Performance times are: Thursday, Oct. 13, 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 14, 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m.

My Witch Focuses On Margaret Hamilton

Centenary Stage Company will continue their 2022 Fringe Festival with a Fat Knight production of ‘My Witch,” running Thursday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 30 in in the Kutz Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center on the Centenary University, 715 Grand Ave. Hackettstown.

Performances will be Thursdays, Oct. 20 and 27, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Oct. 21 and 28, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Oct. 22 and 29 at 8 p.m., and Sundays, Oct. 23 and 30, at 2 p.m.

My Witch tells the story of Margaret Hamilton, who portrayed the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. This 85-minute, one-woman show pays homage to the actress behind the most widely recognized cackle. Hamilton was more than the Wicked Witch of the West, and this show tells the before, during, and after she performed that iconic role.

The box office is open Monday through Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and two hours prior to performances. CSC can also be found across social media platforms.
