Smith has had a varied career but his actions as one who has served many years in public service is particularly commendable. In his Keynote Address, he will accentuate that as he highlights the importance and benefits of a commitment to service in one’s community.
Smith has been honored numerous times for his efforts for the community; among them being named the Freeholder of the Year in 2015 by the N.J. Conference of Mayors. In 2016, he was recognized with the “Good Scout” award by the Boy Scouts.
At Warren County Community College, Smith was a trustee for eight years, three as Chairman. His efforts on behalf of the College during this time period were key to the growth of the College. He was also on the board when Dr. Will Austin was hired as the President of WCCC.
Smith, who earned a degree at Trenton State College in Business/Economics, graduating with high honors, also ran a family business for 35 years. He has also been a press photographer and editor of “The Patriot of NJ” newspaper, and is an instrument rated private pilot.
This year’s commencement begins at 11 a.m.
