Centenary Stage Company’s Young Performers Workshop (YPW) presents their Winter Festival of Shows this weekend, Dec. 18-20.

This year’s festival includes “Peter and the Wolf and Other Dance Stories” and “The Six Who Pass While the Lentils Boil.” All performances will be held in the Sitnik Theatre in the Lackland Performing Arts Center.

“Peter and the Wolf and Other Dance Stories” tells the well-known children’s story from Sergei Prokofiev through an interpretation of dance and music, joined by a cabaret of three smaller dance stories featuring select groups of the YPW students. “The Six Who Pass While the Lentils Boil” is an adapted story of a boy who is visited by six passers-by while watching boiling lentils for his mother. Each visitor, including the Queen, Mime, Milkmaid, Blind Man, Ballad Singer, and the Hangman, brings with them a life lesson.

Tickets for all shows are $12.50 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Please visit centenarystageco.org for specific show times, to purchase tickets, or learn about the theatre’s COVID-19 policies, or call the box office at 908-979-0900.
