Family Guidance To benefit From Race 4 Recovery

Race, run, or walk this October to help those struggling with addiction on their road to recovery.  The Family Guidance Center is among four organizations that will directly benefit from this event that will highlight community resources for drug prevention and recovery support.

The Warren County Race 4 Recovery 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile Memorial Walk will take place on Saturday, October 20, on the mostly flat, fun and fast course at Meadow Breeze Park in Washington Township. Experienced racers and first-timers are invited to take part in this race for a cause.

The timed 5K begins at 9 a.m. The Memorial Walk steps off at approximately 9:15. Registration precedes the race from 7:30-8:30 a.m.  The spacious and picturesque Meadow Breeze Park is located at 27 Meadow Breeze Lane.

Participants who have lost a family member or loved one to addiction are invited to bring a photo to be displayed in the Memory Tent.

Proceeds from Race 4 Recovery will be split among four worthy community resources including the Family Guidance Center’s Opioid Overdose Recovery Program, which provides recovery support services after a NARCAN reversal. That program is one of many offered by the Family Guidance Center, a private, non-profit community behavioral health care agency that provides a broad range of mental health and substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery services to individuals and families living in Warren County. Founded in 1955, the center is dedicated to improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by problems related to mental illness, substance abuse, family conflict or emotional adjustment.

Other groups that will benefit include: Parent to Parent WC provides education, support, and advocacy, as well as assistance finding treatment and aftercare for those suffering from substance abuse; CARES WC provides peer support, volunteer opportunities, education, and other community engagement opportunities for those in recovery’ and WC Recovery Advocacy Team (NCADD), a group of specialists, families in recovery or who have suffered loss, and young people, work together to bring the urgency of addiction and solutions to the public.
