Esteemed surgeon Marc Neal Abo, MD, will provide the keynote address at Warren County Community College’s Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 18.
A medical professional and teacher, Dr. Abo will provide advice and congratulations to the 2019 Graduating Class as they embark on the next step in their lives.
An inductee of the Warren County Hall of Fame, Dr. Abo has a storied career that includes conducting the first gall bladder removal at Warren Hospital. He has been recognized for his dedication to his patients over and over and has been named “Humanitarian of the Year” by the Phillipsburg Chamber of Commerce and “Doctor of the Year” by the American Cancer Society of Warren County. His long and meritorious service to Warren Hospital, and then St. Luke’s, has earned him lasting respect and admiration from colleagues and staff.
A supporter of the arts, particularly Broadway theater, Dr. Abo has become a true friend and supporter of WCCC’s mission. He is also President of B’nai Abraham Synagogue in Easton, Pa.
In the larger community, Dr. Abo and his wife, Aliette, a former elementary school teacher, have been married for 45 years. Aliette has been Office Manager since the inception of Dr. Abo’s practice. They have two daughters, Dr. Alyssa Abo, a pediatric emergency physician with a specialty in ultrasound, who lives in Seoul, South Korea, with her husband, David, and daughters, Madison and Morgan, and Jessica Abo Shainfeld, a journalist, keynote speaker, and author, living in Los Angeles with husband, Brett, and daughter, Alexa.
The Commencement will begin at 11 a.m. It will be held rain or shine on the College’s Main Campus along Route 57 in Washington Township. The celebration is open to all.

Hopefully this will be better than the embarrassing hour long retirement speech given by the Freeholder last year. The soaking wet graduates and our families were trapped freezing in the mud while that oblivious man stood there congratulating himself for all of his own accomplishments. Did no one tell him that a graduation is about the graduates? With all due respect, no one wants to listen to tales of your sad career as a Warren County politician and certainly not at their graduation.
