Beginning next week the Taylor Memorial Library at Centenary University will be hosting an adult read-aloud program in partnership with the Hackettstown Free Public Library. Starting September 19 at 6 pm and continuing every Tuesday night until mid-December, adults will take turns reading a book and discussing the happenings of each chapter. Light refreshments will also be served. The “Enchanted Hour Read-Aloud Program” is the brainchild of local resident and writer Yoli Worth.

“Loneliness is at an all-time high right now. Reading aloud with others offers benefits to people who are seeking a sense of community. It allows people to share their experiences in a friendly, social environment,” said Worth.

The first book covered by this program will be Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist, a bestselling novel that follows a young Andalusian shepherd in his journey to the pyramids of Egypt, after having a recurring dream of finding a treasure there.

“We are thrilled to be able to host this program and engage our community by partnering with our local public library,” stated Centenary University’s Instruction and Outreach Librarian Nick Ferrelli. “Taylor Memorial doesn’t just have events for students. We are a part of the greater Hackettstown community and this program shows that.”
