In the past year, Dr. Felix “Phil” Linfante, the Chair of the Warren County Community College Trustee Board, has seen two significant new programs added to the College, a major student benefit, and a physical expansion as well. Dr. Linfante expects to see more great things out of the College in the next year and he’ll be doing so in his second term as Chair. Dr. Linfante was re-elected as the Chair at the Board’s November meeting.
“Dr. Linfante has been an excellent leader,” said Dr. Will Austin, President of WCCC. “He is right out front as the leader of the Board and with our students. He is very active and supportive of our students, faculty and staff. He regularly attends college-related events campus and off. He is immersed in what goes on at the College.”
“We have a great Board,” added Dr. Linfante. “They do a terrific job of looking out for our students, and the community at-large.”
Dr. Linfante’s – and the Board’s – key goals this coming year are to:
– Continue to support tuition savings for students through innovative strategies
– Advocate the advantages of Warren County Community College to residents and elected officials.
– Work with State and Federal representatives to increase grants and funding to WCCC
– Support the President in developing license and certificate programs that will increase enrollment and offer True Pathways to all residents.
This year, the College put forward two new programs, for Drone Certification and an Associates Degree in Science for Addiction Counseling. A new annex that will include a large lecture hall, labs and badly need classroom space, is in the final phase of completion. In addiction, in January it is launching an innovative student program that covers the cost of all books in a digital format for a flat fee of $140, which can translate into hundreds of dollars in savings.
Dr. Linfante, who has been an educator for over 30 years, holding many positions at Essex County Community College in administration and faculty, will be joined on the Executive Board by Dr. Frank Gilly, Vice Chair, Betti Singh, Secretary, and former Chair, Peter Schmidt, as the Treasurer.
“Many good things happening at WCCC!” said Dr. Linfante. “Many more to come.”
