Centenary Stage Company, the professional non-profit theater company in residency on the campus of Centenary University, will offer two community workshops in Spring 2021: Theatrical Make-up and Acting for the Camera.
Led by Centenary University professor Stephen Davis, Theatrical Make-up explores the world of make-up design and application for the theater. The virtual course, which will be held once per week, will teach students make-up techniques from basic corrective to aging, and trauma simulation to animal design. The course uses various media and live discussion to ensure students are supported during their practice. Tuition is $375 plus the cost of makeup kits and supplies. The class is recommended for teens and adults.
Acting for the Camera will be led by CSC General Manager Christopher Young, who is also an adjunct instructor in Centenary University’s theater department. This in-person course explores the craft of acting as it relates and applies to the film making industry. Acting students will partner with Centenary University film students to explore the artistic and technical rigors of on camera work. From developing a common vocabulary to exploring the unique demands of on-camera work, the course will equip students with the necessary tools to enter the world of professional independent film through lectures, hands-on exercises, and practical application. Students must be 18 or older. Tuition is $250.
Registration deadline is Monday, Jan. 18.
