Three musical shows at the Inn at Millrace Pond in Hope this winter literally spans decades.
David Bennett Cohen who played at Woodstock with Country Joe and The Fish, Joe Ferrara’s Tribute to 60’s star Bobby Darin, and Patrick Fitzsimmons of From Good Homes, will all be bringing their music to the Inn this winter.
On Friday Jan. 19, David Bennett Cohen will be playing the piano upstairs at the Inn from 7-9 p.m. Best known for his innovative keyboard playing as an original member of the ’60’s rock band, Country Joe and The Fish, he has been involved in numerous music scenes throughout his varied career.
Over the years, Cohen has played and/or recorded with The Blues Project, Mick Taylor, The Luther Tucker Blues Band, Elvin Bishop, Hubert Sumlin, Melvin Van Peebles, Happy and Artie Traum, Arlen Roth, Eric Anderson, David Blue, Tim Hardin, Norton Buffalo, Jerry Miller, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Buddy Miles, John Cippolina, Huey Lewis, Michael Bloomfield, Bob Weir, John Kahn, Johnnie Johnson, Jimmy Vivino, Jay Owens, Debbie Davies, Byther Smith, Bobby Kyle, Rocky Lawrence, Johnny B. Gayden, Sandra Feva and others.
As a solo performer, he has shared the bill with Country Joe McDonald, Kenny Rankin, Bonnie Raitt, Richard Thompson, Jerry Garcia, Leo Kottke, Rufus Thomas, Meatloaf, Booker T., The Roches, Kingfish, J. Giles and Magic Dick and many others.
He’s also played on Broadway and toured in the hit show, RENT, doubling on keyboards and guitars, and his distinctive piano style is featured on the new Bill Perry Blues Band CD, Crazy Kind of Life, on Blind Pig Records, along with his instrumental composition, Morning Spiritual.
The Cohen show is part of the Inn’s ongoing Friday night music series.
On Saturday Jan. 27, the life and music of Bobby Darin comes alive again at the Inn. This special dinner show, featuring Joe Ferrara as Bobby Darin, includes all of Darin’s hit songs, sang by him and others! Tickets for the show are $10 each with dinner, or $15 per person for show only plus drinks. Contact the Inn for reservations and ticket information.
On Friday Feb. 2, the amazingly talented Patrick Fitzsimmons is coming to Hope for a special solo show at the Inn. While many know Fitzsimmons through his involvement with From Good Homes, the singer songwriter is equally as well known by many for his acoustic performances. For reservations made in advance tickets are just $10 each, $15 night of.
