“It’s only rock & roll, but he (really) likes it!”
Cathy Miller’s Person of the Week is Mike Watterston, a resident of Hackettstown and a connoisseur of “good music.” Since 1987 he has shared his musical tastes on Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. with listeners of WNTI Radio from Centenary University, encouraging them to “Tune in and TURN IT UP!!!” Currently, his weekly broadcast, called “Dog Bites,” is heard on WNTI.org, an internet-only streaming station. Back in ’87, the very first song he played on air was “Lust for Life” by Iggy Pop. Since then he’s served up tasty nuggets by the likes of Willie Nelson, Grateful Dead, Patti Smith, Social Distortion, B-52s, Eno, Grandmaster Flash, Joe Strummer. As Mike, shown here at the recent Blues and Craft Brews at the Inn at Millrace Pond in Hope, notes on his Facebook page, it’s “rock n’ roll for your soul” with a playlist spanning the 1950s and onward.
Cathy Miller, an award-winning photographer who has been capturing the faces of Warren County for many years, has had her work appear in numerous publications, local, statewide, and beyond.
