Cathy Miller’s People Pic of the Week comes on a Summer Morning on the Farm.
Shari Bylicki, co-owner of Country Fresh Farms, is pictured snuggling with Pancho, a very sweet 1-1/2 year old Jerusalem miniature donkey. On this morning, she was tending to the donkeys (two Jerusalem miniature donkeys – new this season), pigs, goats, and chickens early in the day – feeding them fruits and vegetables from the farm, filling water containers, and spraying the pigs with a stream of cool water, while they scratched their bellies in the resulting mud. Country Fresh Farms, located at 93 West Asbury-Anderson Road in Washington, sells locally grown produce, local eggs, fresh locally made mozzarella, fruit pies, plants, hay and straw. They also have a big play yard for the children, and opportunities to meet the barn yard critters. Currently there’s a bumper crop of tomatoes, zucchini and sweet corn. Fall apples are beginning to make an appearance. Special autumn activities are just around the corner, starting with hayrides around the farm in mid-September.
