Cathy Miller’s People of the Week photo this week is a tribute to “local vocals.” The Warren County Community Singers celebrated their 25th Anniversary Season with Springfest of Music on Saturday, May 5th at Grace Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg, and Sunday, May 6th at First Presbyterian Church in Washington.
The Singers performed their highly anticipated eclectic mix of music from standards to pop to musicals and everything in between. The Children’s Chorus of Warren County sang three numbers under the guidance of Mariah Adams. The free concert was followed by a celebratory reception in the Church’s Fellowship Hall.
This week’s People of the Week photo features three of the four directors who have conducted the Warren County Community Singers since its founding in 1993 by George Warne, then Commissioner of the Warren County Cultural and Heritage Commission.
Karla Lake (left) co-founded the WCCS with George Warne. She was the choral director from December 1993 through May 2004. Dr. Kathleen Riley (not in photo) was director from December 2004 through December 2010. Bob Riday (center) was director from May 2011 through May 2014. Hunter Chadeayne (right), current director of the Warren County Community Singers, came on board in December 2014.
