Cathy’s Person Of The Week Is A Welcoming Sight

Cathy Miller’s Person of the Week is Skylar Kennedy Warren, a junior at Warren Hills Regional High School, and a Warren County Community College Dual Enrollment student. She was on hand to greet visitors at the Festival in the Borough on September 22, volunteering her time to hand out brochures, answer questions, and get acquainted with the Festival attendees.

Skylar plans to compete in the Miss New Jersey Teen USA pageant in November, and will be promoting “Be You…Be True” to encourage confidence, self-esteem and individuality. She is currently seeking sponsors to reach her fundraising goal of $3500 to support her run for the 2019 crown, which will be held November 16th-18th at the Hilton Parsippany Hotel. Support from local businesses, the community, neighbors, friends and family will help Skylar get one step closer to achieving her dream of being crowned.  To make donating easy, Skylar has launched a gofundme campaign. Anyone interested in sponsoring this Washington Township, Warren County hopeful should donate at https://www.gofundme.com/gofundmecomSkylarMissNJteenP.

If Skylar wins she will be New Jersey’s representative in the MISS TEEN USA® Competition who then goes on to compete in the MISS UNIVERSE® Competition as seen on FOX! The Miss Universe Organization will award the new Miss Teen USA a $10,000 scholarship to be applied to continuing education tuition or other education expenses (books, etc.) at an institution of her choice.

At 16 years old, Skylar’s accomplishments already are many, and include performing original piano compositions at Carnegie Hall for the past 3 years, competing on the 2015 National Championship Jr. Streaks Competitive Cheerleading Team, representing Warren Hills Regional High School in the DECA state competition in the Business Adminstration series, and logging over 100 community service hours across northern New Jersey.

Cathy Miller, an award-winning photographer who’s been capturing the faces of Warren County for many years, has had her work appear in numerous publications, local, statewide, and beyond.
