Bread Lock Park Hosts Artists, Music, Historians

By Cathy Miller

After a two year shut down, ParkFest, a free day of music, art, history, literature, and more, returned to Bread Lock Park in Stewartsville on June 11.

ParkFest featured an art show in the barn by local artists, exhibits by history, heritage and community groups, and “Authors Alley” where attendees met published authors on hand to discuss their work, an assortment of fiction, non-fiction and children’s books.

Musical entertainment on the ParkFest stage – built into the side of a barn with open air seating – featured performances by Serene Green with traditional Bluegrass, Sycamore Banjo Band with favorite tunes from the 1920s and the heyday of radio, and Don Kincaid & The Wait, an Americana Alt-Country band.

A second stage, in the pavilion near the Warren Heritage Museum, was added this year, with guitarist Walt Bibinger playing between main stage sets.

ParkFest also featured activities and entertainment for kids, community organizations, informational exhibitors, and select food vendors.

Bread Lock Park, located at 2627 Route 57 East in Stewartsville, is open daily, sunrise to sunset. Featuring an exercise trail and picnic pavilion, walking, hiking, biking, and horseback riding are welcomed.
