Blairstown Township will be hosting a free Shred Event on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9:30 a.m-12:30 p.m. at the Blairstown Municipal Building, 106 Route 94, Blairstown. Blairstown residents and local business owners will be allowed to drop off confidential documents to be destroyed by a commercial-grade shredding company. The event will be paid for by monies awarded for the clean communities recycling program.
“Identity theft is a huge problem right now and I think it is a wonderful idea to provide Township residents with a secure option of destroying their private records,” said Committeewoman Deb Waldron. She further stated, “As the public safety liaison, I am very conscious about maintaining the health, welfare, and safety of our residents. I think of this event as a natural extension of public safety and I encourage everyone to take full advantage of the event.”
Absolute Shredding, a local vendor, will be on hand to serve residents on a first come, first serve basis. The company’s employees are bonded and have been thoroughly vetted to handle sensitive and confidential materials. The township had hosted a similar shred event earlier in the year but decided to extend a second event to residents on a weekend day for those residents who work during traditional business hours.
