Jesse Bardwell and the Noble Brothers are back at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 346, High Street, in Hope, on Friday, July 8, for a 7 p.m. concert that will be rich with original music.
Bardwell, from Hackettstown, and Harry and Bob Noble, from Vienna, were original members of the local sensation Quimby Mountain Band that began when they were still at Hackettstown High School.
QMB, named for a common mispronunciation of Great Meadows’ Quenby Mountain Road, formed in 2005 and was a staple of northern New Jersey venues that became a regional sensation, cutting its first LP in 2009. They toured from the Atlantic to the Mississippi, playing Delta juke joints, theaters, bars, dives, concert halls and pretty much everything in between. They opened for North Jersey legends Railroad Earth as well as Keller Williams, Marshall Tucker Band, New Riders of the Purple Sage and Foghat.
QMB begat Jesse Bardwell and the Noble Brothers (with Trevor Newcomb on drums).
Jesse, Harry and Bob are back at St. Luke’s, still true to their rock n’ roll roots even as they have expanded into folk and country. Expect to hear blues and R&B as well as new music rooted in early country Americana that presents the same raw authenticity as Jesse’s earlier compositions.
St. Luke’s is a favorite venue of the “boys” as it is of many other local groups. There is plenty of off-street parking near the historic church.
Suggested donation is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors.
The Arts at St. Luke’s is partially funded with a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, through the Warren County Division of Cultural and Heritage, part of the Land Preservation Office.
More concerts will be on the second Saturday of August, October and November and St. Luke’s will be a stop on the Moravian Lantern Tour in in December.
