Time to soar this coming weekend!
Warren County Community College is hosting the Warren County Hot Air Balloons, Fun and Games Festival from Friday, Sept. 23, through Sunday, Sept. 25.
The festival is open each day from 3 to 8 p.m. at the WCCC campus, 475 Route 57, Washington. Tethered balloon rides begin at 4:30 p.m. and balloon inflation and launch begins at 5:15 p.m.
All balloon activity is weather-permitting and times are tentative.
Two featured events are the launch of uniquely-shaped balloon Fred G. Monster and Balloonimation Ballroom Glow. Fred will launch twice, Friday, Sept. 23, at 7:15 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m. Balloonmination starts at 7:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. The balloons are synchronized to old-time musical selections.
Friday, Sept. 23 is Family Fun Day with family pack tickets available for purchase through Thursday, Sept. 22, A family admission pass, good for a total of five people in one car, saves 50% on admission and provides a $5 parking fee. It also enables the holder to save $5 on tethered rides.
Besides ballooning, patrons can enjoy DPGolf and SNAG (starting new at golf system), touted as the easiest and most fun way to lean to play golf. A hgalf-price, $5, bucket of balls in available in the balloon ride tent.
Entertainment will be provided by Comedy Magic, Live Rabbit and public participation with Balloons the Clown. Jugglers from Grins and Grins will teach circus tricks. Phydeaux”s Flying Flea Circus will also entertain.
Evening entertainment all three nights will be from Lean Marie Fuhs, Jeff Belify Band, Na”Bodash, DJ shows by SC# Fun and the Kudor Barber Shop Quartet.
Drone demonstrations to teach the public about the variety of drones and the college’s drone program will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the campus drone port.
A Sunday car and truck show begins with registration at 2 p.m. All makes and models of cars are welcome. Registration fee is $20. Trophies will be awarded
to the top 10 participates as judged by their peers. A Best in Show will be panel-judged.
The proceeds of the car show will go toward the creation of the Fred T. Grotenhuis Veterans Community Center.
Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and small games such as quoits or corn hole.
