The 2018-2019 Jazz Series at Rutherfurd Hall in Allamuchy kicks off Sunday, Oct. 7, with a special presentation from critically-acclaimed singer Ann Hampton Callaway as she performs from the songbook of the First Lady of Song.

Recently voted “Performer of the Year” by Broadway World, Callaway is known for her unique singing style that combines jazz with traditional pop, as well as her improvisation and wit. She is best known for her Tony-nominated performance in the Broadway musical, Swing!, and for writing and singing the theme song for the hit TV series, The Nanny. She has also written songs for the likes of Barbra Streisand and Carole King, and is the only composer to collaborate with Cole Porter.

Now she comes to Rutherfurd Hall in Allamuchy to perform songs from storied performer, Ella Fitzgerald.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and runs approximately two hours. Light refreshments will be served.

Tickets for this evening of soulful music are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online or at Panther Valley Pharmacy in Allamuchy or Mama’s Café Baci in Hackettstown.

Ann Hampton Callaway’s performance is just the first installment of what promises to be a talent-filled 2018-2019 Jazz Series, which is proudly sponsored by Heath Village Retirement Community and Panther Valley Pharmacy.

• Nov. 18 – Water Gap Jazz Orchestra, featuring the music of Phil Woods and directed by Matt Vashlishan
• Dec. 19 – Houston Person with the David Leonhardt Trio performs
• Jan. 6, 2019 –Jay Leonhart Quartet featuring Tomoko Ohno on piano rings in the new year
• Feb. 17 – David Ostwald’s Louis Armstrong Band performs Dixieland Jazz
• March 17 – Jerry Weldon Quartet performs
• April 7 – Ronny Whyte Trio sings Sinatra
