The Washington Borough Farmers’ Market held its second annual Red, White & Blue Dessert Contest on Saturday July 6, and the winners certainly displayed their red, white and blue ways with their colorful and scrumptious desserts. Winners included Most Patriotic, Gloria Hoffman (cherry tart flag shaped), Best Tasting, Sophia DiCapua (apple turnovers), and Most Attractive, Suzi Marr (white chocolate mousse w/ farmers market berries). Winners received gift certificates to Muheisens Bakery, Juanito’s Mexican Restaurant, and Empanada Mamasita. Pictured left to right are judges and winners, Washington Business Improvement District Board Member Mary Jo Harris, Gloria Hoffman, Suzi Marr, John Valentine, Sophia DiCapua, and Deborah Schleiff from Unity Bank. Hoffman and DiCapua are repeat winners from last year’s contest.
