PTK Donates Results Of Summer Food Collection

The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) organization at Warren County Community College recently collected boxes of food that was then donated to the NORWESCAP Food Bank. From the left, PTK Member and Student Government Association President Jimmy Crouse, PTK President Ben Volk (holding donation acknowledgement card), and Susan Howey, Professor of Mathematics, helped coordinate the food drive, which brought in 263 pounds of food over the summer at the college.

Volk noted that “As members of Phi Theta Kappa we all seek to become pillars of our respective communities and to give back to them when we can. This drive was the first of many that we have planned for the new school year. We hope that by the time we graduate, the scholars of tomorrow will continue to give back just as we have.”

While most food drives take place around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season, the Food Bank truly needs food year-round to keep up with the heavy demand of needy families. Therefore, this food drive came at a very opportune time according to NORWESCAP.
